On 28 June 2013 I saw Jake Bugg for the first time when he performed his new single “Broken” live on The Graham Norton Show. This 19-years-old English musician, singer and songwriter has indeed a very striking voice.
Broken sounds very melancolic. I read somewhere on the internet that Jake wrote “Broken” about his friend who committed suicide. Broken has also a very brokenhearted lyric but it is somehow very soothing to listen to. Perhaps, this’s why this song has been hanging in my head ever since.
I don’t know about you but I need some soothing, goosebumps and melancholy tunes when I listen to some music. And Broken by Jake Bugg gives me enough dose of all three every single day.
I’ll wait here for you for I’m broken
Down, coming down this town
For my heart liesFar and away where they took you down
Led them over to your house
Where I’m broken
Down by the people if
they let you breath
Don’t give a damn if you
Still can’t see still my heart beats for you.Have become all I lost
And all I hoped for.
But I must carry on
Always one never broken.
